An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Operations Manager to join a large residential aged care home in Northern Tasmania. This senior role is primarily clinical, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and best-practice care, while also contributing operational insight to support effective service delivery.
The Clinical Operations Manager plays a key role in promoting excellence in clinical care and embedding evidence-based practice across a large residential aged care service. The position supports the daily operation of the home, leads quality improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with strengthened aged care standards.
The role is designed with a dual reporting structure:
80% clinical focus, reporting directly to the Regional Clinical Services Manager
20% operational focus, reporting to the Regional Operational Services Manager
Both managers are based on site, enabling strong collaboration, visibility, and timely decision-making.
Clinical Focus (80%)
Attend and facilitate Heads of Department meetings and safety huddles to promote safe practice
Lead and model evidence-based clinical care and decision-making across the home
Coach and mentor clinical and care staff to support skill development, care planning, and documentation
Coordinate complex case management, including escalation, assessment, and multidisciplinary collaboration (including GP rounds)
Conduct regular clinical audits and reviews of care plans, medication management, and incident response processes
Identify, manage, and escalate clinical risks in line with governance frameworks
Support rostering, care minutes, and AN-ACC activities in collaboration with corporate and operational teams
Operational Focus (20%)
Provide insight and support into day-to-day operations within a large residential aged care environment
Collaborate with operational leadership on continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to planning, coordination, and implementation of residential services, including admission readiness and service transitions
Assist with problem-solving operational issues and escalate complex matters where required
Essential Requirements
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 5 years’ clinical experience in residential aged care, including complex care planning
Proven experience as a Residential Clinical manager within residential aged care services
Strong knowledge of Aged Care and NDIS Quality Standards
High-level leadership, communication, and conflict management skills
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and lead multidisciplinary teams
Sound understanding of the interface between clinical care and operations within a precinct or large-home model
Annual salary: $145k + superannuation
Generous not-for-profit salary packaging (up to $18,550 per FBT year)
Full-time weekday role (Monday to Friday)
